What visitors say
Absolutely amazing place! We stayed at the Round house with additional sleeping in the Pit house. Anthony is a fantastic host & such an incredible person having built these wonderful places all by himself! He really has though of everything to make your stay incredible ☺️ 3 wood fired stoves & we cooked everything over fire, although there is a single gas ring for the less adventurous.

What can I say, we stayed here in the turf house, for two nights midweek in July and could not have asked for a better experience. Anthony, the host was an absolute delight. Incredibly welcoming and hospitable and made sure that we did not want for anything. The huts themselves were truly fantastic. The level of detail and the time and care that has gone into building them and making them as authentic as possible is truly remarkable and a testament to himself, considering they were all built by hand. For those who do like there mod cons, there are still solar lights, heated showers and private bathroom facilities that are very clean and well maintained. The sleeping arrangement is very cosy, with the log burner a huge welcome bonus. If you're interested in your viking/medieval history or just want to stay somewhere truly rustic, done properly i cannot reccomend Anthony or Bowber head highly enough. We will absolutely, be returning!!!
