Glendale Holiday Parks

We had a lovely stay in caravan CA11 for my birthday with our dog Copper. Site is beautifully kept and very dog friendly. Bar has two sections - dog friendly and people only. You can site outside the dog friendly section with a cool drink and watch the ducks on the little lake. I realised too late that I had left my birthday gifts in the bedroom closet. Contacted Glendale and spoke with Sophie who was exceptionally helpful. She helped me arranged for someone to pick up my presents and they are currently en route to me! Thank you Sophie! All staff were lovely that we met and I would return. The only thing that was missing was the wifi but it seemed to be a service provider issue that weekend and we couldn’t purchase cover. There is no signal without this other than in the bar area. I’m a carer so it was a bit of a concern not being contactable through the night - otherwise perfect!

So we arrived at 6pm. Went over to our caravan for the week, the caravan had not been finished cleaning. There were pillows outside on the wet ground. We had to go back to reception to ask for it to be finished and wait for this, despite check in being 3pm. A gesture would’ve been appreciated for the inconvenience, after a 3hr drive to the site. There is no service from where our caravan was, and the WiFi advertised would not work. The food at the bar was great, but service was incredibly slow, taking around an hour for our food to come, despite it being very quiet. One night half our table had already finished their mains before the rest of the tables mains arrived. We also had to ask for our plates to be taken away. Drinks are quite expensive, however there are food and drink vouchers providing discounts on different days which was good. Entertainment could do with more variation on an evening. Beds are not suitable for those with minor back issues. Good facilities for kids, big play park. The swimming pool advertised is slightly misleading- it is rather a big bath. Sauna was not turned on despite prebooking the facilities and took a long time to heat and therefore we left without use. Please be aware supermarkets are at least good 20min drive, the little shop onsite often closes early and has limited choice. We still had a good trip, however I would not return.

Gold caravan was nothing but. door handle hanging off door , food in cupboard over 3 months out of date, baby wipes left on bedroom floor, cupboard door hanging off, soap dish in shower covered in soap scum, pot lids dirty and stained,bed uncomfortable and room very small.the only good point was Leila and her prompt service to try to rectify. changed caravan but still some cleanliness issues although not as bad as first caravan but still not gold standard. would not return to this site.

The caravan park is well kept and has some good on-site facilities, including a gym, restaurant, laundry, and a small play area for kids. The caravans aren’t brand new and the park does feel a bit dated, but everything was clean and looked after. The location is great for exploring the area, with lots of attractions within a 1 to 1.5-hour drive, including Hadrian's Wall, several historic English castles, and parts of the Lake District. One downside was that some parts of the park had an unpleasant smell, which seemed to be coming from the open sewage system. Overall, though, it was a nice stay with good facilities and a handy location for sightseeing. I am giving overall rating of 3 due to the unpleasant smell, that was supposed to be addressed by park owners.
