Pillars of Hercules Organic Farm

Went as a family of vegetarians hoping to find a menu full of nice things we would eat. The food was quite nice, and certainly served quickly, although not a huge variety to choose from. However the arrangement of the food service is awful. The till is just inside the door, where you must order and pay before moving to the collection end of the counter. This means that you spend ages queuing outside, unable to see how the ordering system operates, the menu or prices. We felt pressurised to choose quickly and pay, but had only glimpsed the menu as we stepped through the door and were confronted with the till. After we got food and sat down, we saw a chalkboard with a full description of the ordering process and a diagram of where to do it. There was also a huge chalkboard menu with prices. Both of these were only visible from the seating area. Pillars of Hercules, take note, there could be a massive improvement simply by displaying the ordering process and menu outside so you customers can read them whilst queuing. Or moving the till to the other end of the counter. We would not go here again.

Pillars has went down hill since I was last there only 9 months ago 😬. Tables and chairs are quite close knit, so not much room for movement. The bit where you order is so small (didn't used to be) you feel very rushed to order, so not much time for deciding. The straps on the high chair were soaking wet and mouldy. There isn't a lot of options for gluten free, there's cake, fritatta and lentil soup. If you don't like those, then nothing for you. I had the fritatta, it wasn't the best as the cheese on top of the egg was a bit wet. And the courgette was mushy. I got a bit of bread with the babies soup, and it was very dry, so I had to add it to his soup to prevent him choking. The cheese and apple foccacia was soggy on the bottom. It just wasn't good. The salad I think also needs to be replaced throughout the day, as it looked passed it. I've been going there years and used to love the place. I definitely won't be returning, because the place and food no longer match the extortionate pricing.

No rooms there! There is a lovely café, poly tunnels to view, plants for sale, great vegan food, a nice campsite,outdoor seating, kids play stuff, toilets, amazinv produce for sale, veg boxes you can order for delivery, vegan foods to buy, refillables, deli items. Expensive but nice. Great staff. Such a fab place!!

Amazingly whimsical place in a beautiful setting. Unique and inclusive food options. A great place to stop by even if just to walk around the gardens and take in the scenery
