Fantastic site with a great walk direct from site into Buxton through Grin Law County Park, 10 minutes to Solomons Temple. Site wardens very helpful with information. Immaculate facilities. Ideal base to explore Matlock, Castleton, Bakewell etc. Lots of bars, shops, restaurants in Buxton. Ideal for Goyt and Hope Valley. Very dog friendly.

Great setting in an old quarry so the spacious pitches and clean, warm facilities. Nice to be able to get fish and chips (think this is maybe Fri/Sat evenings). About a 40 min walk into Buxton - this is up and over a hill - but more than manageable. Dog friendly site, we really enjoyed our night here in the campervan.

Perfect getaway and a lovely site with a stunning backdrop. Great walks and beautiful countryside. I asked the wardens if the washroom facilities were recently renovated …. No they said, they were done seven years ago. Could have knocked me down with a feather as they were spotless. Tell tale sign and my bug bear …. Plug holes …. Like new ….. gleaming. Will be back … probably many times.

Stayed in our motorhome here. it’s an old quarry. It’s a bit more than a mile to get into central buxton but if you like a country hike then going through the country park is awesome. There is a bus from the other side of the camp but to be honest it’s a 15 minute walk to take the bus and so it’s quicker to walk through the country park. Walking up though is another matter - we took taxis !! Be aware Sunday is a day of for most taxi drivers in the area - we got lucky that an Uber guy agreed to bring us home - but it was a forty minute wait - the people running the place keep it perfectly and are very charming to chat to. We got lucky in April with three days of sunshine - even if the wind was a bit chilly!
