Ringstones Caravan Park

Been coming up here with my mum for around 1 and a half years now. The summers up here are great with amazing views of the hills around. The winters are even better cozy up in our caravan. Facilities are amazing and easily accessible. The location is perfect, close to shops and bars. Would highly recommend.

We booked Ringstones for the bank holiday weekend at the end of August. This wasn’t a last minute booking. It was done on the 9th July, and confirmed accordingly. We then received a text message, (not even a call), 4 days prior to our scheduled stay to inform us that the booking was now cancelled because some other guests who were already on site had chosen to extend their stay. We are now left with absolutely no chance of finding anywhere else available in the area so close to a bank holiday weekend. The site may be really nice, I couldn’t really comment, but if this is standard practice for them, people need to be very wary about booking here if they don't have a backup plan. The owner didn’t apologise 4 times as stated. There were 4 messages in total, but only 1 could be deemed an apology, (the original message to inform us of the cancellation). Others were to tell us to go elsewhere when we queried facts around other pitch types etc. Later messages were simply ignored. Will post photos of messages including the date/time stamps if there are any doubts as to the validity of this. I understand that pitches shouldn’t be vacant and that there is a business to be run, especially nowadays more than ever. This shouldn’t be the expense of others who have booked months before, had it all confirmed, and built plans around the trip that now have to be cancelled, (restaurants etc.). In answer to your edited reply, there was no need to bar us. Your treatment meant that we had zero intention of staying in the future anyway. Short term profit is clearly more important to you than potential new long term customers. Photo's of text message exchange now included.

Location was spot on - close enough to shops etc. and with the peak district just on the doorstep. Toilet and shower block always clean and accessible. Perfect no-frills site for what we wanted with our touring caravan. Damian (site manager) took great care of us and was so quick to reply to all communication, thanks so much! Beware that the road up is currently quite potholey, so navigate with caution. Hopefully the owners will be able to repair this now the weather is improving.

Almost abandoned driving up the narrow hill and access road. It's in terrible condition and I thought my tyres might shred. Campsite has extremely basics. It's handy for Whaley Bridge but next time I'd rather drive another 20 miles and get a proper site. I would like to add that the site manager is very helpful and helped me position my caravan by hand. I understand that the state of access road is not his fault but caravaners should be made aware.Sorry if the site don't like my post but it's true and accurate and i found it scary driving up and back down which has never happened before.
