Certificated campsite in Derbyshire with showers, suited to small groups and couples.

About Slate House Farm (Certificated Location)

Slate House Farm is a certificated location in Ashover, near Chesterfield, designed for small touring parties rather than large family groups. Being certificated means it operates under a relaxed planning regime for sites with no more than five pitches, keeping things quiet and intimate. The site has showers on hand, though facilities are modest compared to larger commercial campsites.

This works well for couples and small groups looking for a low-key base in the Derbyshire countryside, particularly those touring in caravans or campervans. The Ashover area sits on the edge of the Peak District, giving access to walking and local villages without the intensity of busier tourist destinations nearby.

What visitors say

What an amazing find! This glamping site deserves to be busier. An ideal location to relax, unwind and watch the world go by. The pods are ideal for 2 adults and a child, with all the amenities you really need. Bed mattress is soft......but very comfortable, we slept like logs both nights . The hosts are fabulous, so warm and welcoming, nothing is too much trouble. There is a small farm shop on site, offering all you need plus some nice local produce . Based on a working farm, you get all the farmyard animal noises you would expect, and it's better for it. Adds a sense of remoteness . Highly recommended, we will visit again .

We have just got back from a 2 night stay and it was absolutely incredible. Toni and her family can’t do enough for you and it made it a spectacular trip for our little girl. Toni was so kind letting our daughter into the stables, she helped muck out and feed the horses. The access to all the animals was so cool, having chickens just run around was brilliant. This is a hidden gem and somewhere we are going to spend many weekends in the future.

We had a fantastic two-night stay! The pod was incredibly clean, cosy, and perfectly set up for a relaxing break. A huge thank you to the friendly and helpful team who truly went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. If you’re looking for a peaceful and personalised stay, this is the perfect spot. We’ll definitely be back!

Loved our stay! Facilities were perfect. We managed a full fry up and then a steak dinner in our little pod. Top tip - bring slippers! We stayed in February and had snow so the floor was cold.
