What visitors say
Did not meet expectations. The reviews do not reflect the reality. Yes there is a large field to camp in and 2 toilet/ shower rooms with hot water soap and paper but it ends there. No facilities for washing dishes or clothes. The beer garden has potential but it needs some tlc ie litter removed and dog dirt. This cost £25 for 2 people no electric plus £5 for use of the shower. We hadn't paid that much for any site over the last 40 camps! On top of this the food was definitely not good so disappointing when reviews photos and menu seemed so promising. I understand that frozen food is the only way smaller pubs can offer food but the quality of the food here is really poor. The chips were reconstituted potato , scampi must have been right at the budget end and even the frozen peas were not well cooked. The only thing fresh and not from frozen was a salad. I have never written a poor review before and it comes down mainly to the food and the cost .

We ate there yesterday and had a wonderful meal. He had a burger and fries, I had a goats cheese and beetroot salad with a side of triple cooked chips. We shared some homemade rum and raisin ice cream. The service was friendly, kind and quick. The food was served quickly and well cooked and freshly made. The ice cream was to die for! He had a pint of 6x and said it was perfectly fresh and just as it should be. I just had a j20 lol. We will definitely be back as it was excellent value for money and a lovely relaxing lunch with no loud intrusive music (he particularly liked the play list lol).

Stopped at the Crown today, on the off chance of getting some lunch. Not disappointed. 3 "oldies". 2 Fish and chips and 1 lasagna. Very tasty. Lovely pint of Swordfish, Wadworth's finest ale. Good food, with polite and friendly service. Thanks very much. Pete.

We've camped here annually for several years and it's been through several changes of ownership (not all good in the past). Karen and Colin have been here since September 25 and are doing an absolutely fantastic job of turning The Crown into a homely hub of entertainment and hospitality. Camping prices very reasonable with hot showers. They're even having a music festival in July 26.
