A campsite near Hemyock
About Camp Wild at Burrow Hill Farm
Tucked into a secluded Devon hillside near Hemyock, Camp Wild offers the thrill of wild camping without completely forsaking creature comforts. This tiny, off-grid site features just a couple of large pitches where you choose your own spot among wildflowers and woodland—though you'll need to leave the car behind as your kit gets transported in for you. Each pitch comes with a portable toilet, solar shower tent and camping kitchen unit, plus spring water piped from the main house.
The real draw is the atmosphere: dark skies perfect for stargazing, abundant wildlife including badgers, deer and swooping buzzards, and complete peace broken only by the occasional hooting owl. Footpaths radiate from the farm for exploring, while campfires and barbecues are positively encouraged (you can forage your own wood or stock up at the supermarket in Hemyock, a mile away).
With a five-star Google rating, it's clearly hitting the mark for those craving a genuine back-to-basics experience—just remember to pack your torch.

Amazing, my favourite campsite so far. Has a little stream running through it that you can swim or paddle in. There is a lovely kitchen indoor and outdoor that you can use and a wellness Centre that’s covered up from the Sun and rain. The host is really welcoming and everyone is friendly and delightful. There is a pub two minute walk up the road, but otherwise the area is pretty secured and quiet.

Fantastic small camp site for 5 pitches. Right next to the river where otters and beavers live. Birds galore including kingfishers, woodpeckers, gold crests etc. So quiet and peaceful and few insects. Great facilities including hot shower, toilets, kitchen, sauna and fire pits! Plenty of shade also with a nice pub up the road. Enjoyable stay!

I recently stayed in Hettie for 3 days and had such a cosy and relaxing stay. Tam and Jonny are so warm and welcoming and you have everything you need for a back to nature getaway. The setting is stunning, a haven for wildlife and a perfect, tranquil break. I'll definitely be back

Jonny and Tam couldn't have been more friendly and helpful if they tried. The site was amazing in the sun. Facilities were great with the whole site tidy and well organised. Thank you for a great stay.
