Hornbeam Country Park

I booked a 4-night stay here through Hoseasons, paying £680 for a lodge with a hot tub. The hot tub was completely unusable throughout our stay — cloudy water, brown scum line, broken jets, and an undissolved chlorine tablet floating inside. I raised this with the park manager (Greg) immediately, and I have written messages where he insisted it was “safe to use” when it was clearly not. Even after they claimed to have cleaned it, it was left in a worse state. This was a key feature of the booking and the main reason we chose the lodge. We refused to use it for safety reasons, and by Thursday (a day before departure) we gave up entirely and left early, cutting our holiday short. When I told them we were leaving, staff couldn’t have cared less and didn’t even attempt to resolve the situation. The lodge itself was also in poor condition and not as advertised: • Dead flies on the window ledges • Broken blinds • Damaged/weathered decking • A broken front gate • Grounds overgrown with weeds and cheap chippings instead of the flowers and landscaping advertised • No privacy around the hot tub — just black sheeting, fully exposed to a passing road Hoseasons’ response was equally disappointing. Despite the unusable hot tub, the poor condition of the lodge, and us losing a night of our holiday, they offered a “goodwill gesture”. This did not even cover the £200 price difference between a lodge with and without a hot tub, let alone compensate for everything else. In short: facilities not as described, poor maintenance, dismissive management, and inadequate aftercare from Hoseasons. I will now be escalating my complaint to Trading Standards. Would not recommend.

Nice selection of lodges. We stayed at a 1-bed lodge which was fine, though the WiFi was poor. Well furnished with living area, kitchen, shower, bedroom and decking area. No access to the hot tub when we were there. Nice walks nearby and easy to get to the Jurassic Coast.

We stayed in number 3 birches as it is pet friendly. The lodge is very clean and spacious and big comfy bed and a walk in shower. We dropped on lovely weather so managed to bbq. The decking is very spacious with outdoor furniture and a great hot tub. The park is well kept and peaceful We only encountered a small problem when the batteries in the carbon monoxide were running flat and it kept being. It was sorted promptly by Georgia the maintenance lady she was really good and helpful as was the rest of the team. We will definitely return . Only criticism would be to have a fan in lodge as it was very warm.

Just got back from a great weekend here. Quiet location but able to drive to surrounding areas for days out. Our lodge was well equipped, spacious and modern. The hot tub was brilliant. Kids loved it. Fair cleanliness - could do with a deep clean (skirting boards etc) but didn’t really bother me. We are on holiday after all! The lodge had a tv, wifi was hit or miss but again that’s fine. Washing machine was a bonus! Didn’t come home to a pile of dirty clothing as we done it there! Iron towels and hair dryer also provided. Honestly can’t fault the park. Staff was very friendly. Had an early check in which was a lovely surprise. Would definitely book again. Hoping to return end of June.
