Hotels in Doddington

Doddington itself has no hotels, being a small village of around 550 people, but its position just off the A2 between Sittingbourne and Faversham makes it a convenient base for staying nearby while exploring the Kent Downs. Faversham, a short drive away, has the most character of the local towns, with guesthouses and small hotels set among its medieval streets, creekside pubs and independent shops, and it makes a good base for visiting both Doddington and the wider Swale countryside. Sittingbourne, slightly closer, offers a more practical spread of hotels aimed at travellers using the A2, M2 and the town's railway station, useful if you want fast links to London or the Kent coast. Beyond the two towns, the surrounding villages of the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty have a scattering of farm B&Bs and self-catering cottages, many set among the same orchards and hop gardens that define Doddington itself, offering a quieter alternative to a town-centre hotel. Wherever you base yourself, Doddington Place Gardens, the Chequers Inn and the surrounding downland walks are all within easy reach, and the area's good road and rail links mean Leeds Castle, Canterbury and the Kent coast are realistic day trips. Booking ahead is worth doing between May and September, when the gardens are open and the orchards are at their best, as accommodation in the smaller villages is limited and popular with walkers following the Augustine Camino route through the Downs.
