Buckle House takes its name from its former life as a shoe shop, and the Victorian terraced building still carries the character of its high street past. The property sits on the main street of Gatehouse of Fleet, a working market town in Dumfries and Galloway, where pubs and restaurants are within easy reach on foot. Three bedrooms sleep six: a super kingsize, a kingsize, and a bunk room. Two bathrooms serve the property, one with a bath and the other with a shower cubicle.
The ground floor spreads across a living room with a 43-inch television and electric fire, a second sitting room with its own fireplace, and a kitchen-diner fitted with an electric oven, hob, dishwasher and microwave. Everything needed for self-catering is provided, including linen, towels and wifi. Central heating keeps things warm. The large enclosed garden with patio and summerhouse opens onto Garries Park via a gate at the bottom; a pathway from there leads into Cally Woods without needing to cross a road. The SPAR in Gatehouse of Fleet is within walking distance for supplies.
This is suited to families and groups who want coastal access without being beachfront themselves—Mossyard and Carrick beaches are a short drive away. One well-behaved dog stays free. The property is non-smoking. A travel cot, highchair and stairgate are available if needed.
