Really strange place. First - positivities: showers with hot water and clean kitchen area. Good location if you want to drive 20 minutes to Benone Beach, nice view of the hill. But… Whole place looks like the best times are long gone. And the owner is quite odd. Place supposed to be “family friendly” but he was shushing at playing kids around 6.30pm (and it wasn’t really loud type of play), saying that is the quiet camping place. Then the farming machines were in action from 4am, and there was not a word of explanation from him - despite the fact he was visiting our tents twice next morning without any particular reason. It made quite unpleasant vibe. Campsite has a great potential, but really requires loads of work and changes.

: Extremely Disappointing Stay: Poor Management and Hazardous Facilities I am writing this review to express my severe disappointment with our recent stay at Hillfoot Caravan Site. While we had hoped for a pleasant family getaway, our experience was marred by unprofessional staff behavior and seriously neglected, unsafe facilities. Unprofessional Management and Booking Issues: The issues began immediately upon arrival. Despite having pre-booked our stay, we were initially informed that the site was full and there was no room for us. After some back-and-forth, the manager eventually accommodated us, but the solution required us to run electric cables and water hoses from two pitches away, which was highly inconvenient and disorganized. Furthermore, we found the site staff’s attitude towards guests to be completely unacceptable, particularly towards families. At 10:00 AM on a morning, the manager aggressively told my 4-year-old son to "be quiet" for simply playing (not excessively noisy). Shortly after, he confronted me and threatened to confiscate my son's trike and "put it in the skip" if he saw him riding it again. This aggressive and hostile reaction towards a young child was deeply unprofessional and completely unwarranted in a family holiday environment. Hazardous Play Area Most concerningly, the children's play area is in a state of severe disrepair and poses a serious safety risk. The equipment is clearly neglected and dangerous for children. As the attached photos demonstrate: The main wooden play structure is missing steps, and loose bricks/boulders are present directly in the play area There is construction debris, including sharp pieces of rotten wood with exposed nails, lying discarded both within the play area and on the main gravel path leading to it The general state of the equipment and surrounding fences is dilapidated and poorly maintained It is unacceptable that a site catering to families allows a play area to fall into such a dangerous condition. This is not only poor maintenance but a significant safety hazard. Conclusion: Due to the combination of disorganized management, hostile and unprofessional staff, and the unsafe condition of the facilities, I cannot recommend Hillfoot Caravan Site. This is a neglected site that shows zero regard for guest safety or satisfaction. We will not be returning.

Stayed one night as a touring cyclist with a small tent. Simple, super-quiet campsite at the foot of a beautiful hill. I paid £10. Pitches are flat with short, well-kept grass—ideal for tents. There’s a small indoor shelter/room you can use and an outdoor washing-up area. Separate men’s and women’s toilets, each with a pleasant hot shower. No power sockets inside the shelter, but there’s a water tap outside. I slept very well and felt safe. Had a lovely chat with the owner—friendly and welcoming. Great value and definitely a place I’d return to.

Stayed here last night on our 10 day campervan tour of ireland. Absolutely loved this place. The bathrooms are kept spotless, the property and surrounding area are gorgeous. And the owner is absolutely delightful to chat with. We could have spent all night listening to Mervs stories, he is a gem of a man.
