Through the front door of Deer View, you step into an entrance hall that opens straight onto the garden via patio doors—the kind of threshold that blurs the boundary between indoors and out. Beyond that lies a combined living and dining space where the views stretch across the surrounding fields. The kitchen, positioned to take in those same vistas, has everything needed for cooking: electric oven, induction hob, microwave, air fryer, dishwasher and coffee machine. A utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer sits on the ground floor alongside a shower room.

Upstairs are two bedrooms: one with a double bed, the other with two singles. This layout sleeps four. The property stands on a working deer farm in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty just outside Ottery Saint Mary, so the fields in front belong to the resident herd—you'll watch them from the hot tub, which is enclosed and private, sunk into the back garden. One dog is welcome. Essentials like heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi are included. The garden itself is fenced, with a sitting area and steps leading down into it. Parking for two cars is private.

The location suits couples and families wanting the Devon countryside without being far from the coast or the town. No smoking inside.

We had the most wonderful stay at Deer View with our toddler. Debbie was brilliant from the moment we booked- friendly, responsive, and accommodating. The cottage itself was spotless, beautifully presented, and so well equipped that it instantly felt like a home‑from‑home with the added luxury of high‑end gadgets and a private hot tub. The space was perfect for a family stay- spacious throughout with comfortable beds. The highlight for our little boy was feeding the deer. Debbie brought us carrots every day, and we were lucky enough to see three baby deer that had just been born. She even introduced him to two adorable puppies and her lovely sausage dog, Frankie, which absolutely made his week. As parents, we really appreciated the practical touches too, like the washing machine, the baby gate, and all the clear information about the house and local area. Debbie truly went above and beyond. We’re so grateful we were able to stay here and would love to return in the future.

Wow this is Devon's best kept secret. We had the most magical stay at Deer View, the house is immaculate and has everything you could need for a luxury stay. The location is ideal for getting out and about in the day by car to visit Devon but tucked away for a secluded relaxing break. Nothing was too much trouble for Debbie who made sure the house was set up with a high chair and stair gate for our children. Now onto the deer, to be able to come up close and watch these beautiful animals and feed them carrots every morning was so special. We sat in the hot tub and watched them just go about their day and could see them from the windows in the house, a beautiful escape. Highly recommend and will be back. Thank you so much Debbie.

Absolutely fabulous! A real gem in south Devon. Luxury stay with lovely hosts! Feeding the deer was extra special and of course the hot tub with views! We can’t wait to come again!

We had a lovely stay at Deer View Cottage. The house was beautiful, spotlessly clean, and a very comfortable place to spend the week. It was modern and had everything we needed. We loved waking up to the deer every morning (including a couple that were only a week old!) and being able to feed them everyday - our little boy loved them. The views from the house were amazing and the hot tub was a great addition. Debbie the owner was great, she took the time everyday to chat and say hello and showed me and my little boy around their farm.. we got to see the calves, the goats and all of the dogs! We were provided with a lovely hamper and fresh eggs from the hens. I would recommend this accommodation to anyone and we will definitely be returning soon!
