About Roydon Marina Village

Roydon Marina Village is a marina-based campsite in Harlow, Essex. The site centres on a working marina on the River Stort, with The Boathouse pub just a few metres away on the water's edge. Roydon Station is a short walk away, offering rail links to London and beyond.

The site has shower facilities. Specific details of the pitches themselves—their size, number, and what they accommodate—are not listed in the site information, so you should contact Roydon Marina directly to confirm whether they take tents, caravans, motorhomes or other accommodation types, and what to expect on arrival. What is clear is that this is a waterside location with immediate access to pub food and drink.

Amazing staff. Thank you Megan, Kai, and Katie for taking such good care of us and making us feel so welcome. Everyone here goes above and beyond to make sure you feel welcome. Cannot wait to come back with our new boat and see everyone again. Kai in the kitchen cooks amazing food and the best cheesecake I've ever had. Love to you all at Roydon, Sam and Reggie Roberts xx

Great little find. Booked a double room for a night in harlow(10 mins in taxi). Room was well appointed and clean. (Could do with a blind or heavier curtains to block sun). Clubhouse was convenient and served good food and breakfast.

We booked this hotel for two nights based on the photos and its 4+ star rating. Unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing. We arrived at around 8:30 PM and discovered there was no proper reception desk. Check-in was handled at the bar, and there was no receptionist on duty. A member of the bar staff gave us our room keys, while a security guard informed us that the Wi-Fi was not working and that they were "trying to fix it." We were then told that if we needed Wi-Fi, we would have to sit in the bar area, which closed at 11 PM. To make matters worse, mobile phone signal in the area was also very poor. When we entered our room, the temperature was approximately 29°C, making it unbearably hot. We tried adjusting the temperature controls, but nothing worked. We opened the sliding door to allow fresh air in, but even after an hour the room remained extremely warm. With no working Wi-Fi and no effective cooling, the room was uncomfortable to stay in. At around 9:30 PM, we returned to discuss both the heating issue and the Wi-Fi problem. The only solution offered was a table fan. As it was summertime in the UK, the fan simply circulated the hot air and did not resolve the problem. The hotel's website advertises Wi-Fi, and various amenities, but our experience did not match those claims. The lack of working Wi-Fi and inability to cool the room made the stay unacceptable, so we decided to book another hotel and leave that same evening. We checked out at approximately 10:30 PM and asked about cancelling the remaining nights. The bar staff directed us to the security guard, who repeatedly stated that he could not help and that we would need to speak with a receptionist the following morning at 8 AM. Since we had booked through Expedia, we were advised to request the cancellation through them. The security guard provided a hotel phone number and email address and suggested that we contact the hotel directly as well. We immediately contacted Expedia and explained the situation. Expedia attempted to reach the hotel but received no response. The case was then escalated to a specialist team, which also struggled to get a response from the hotel the following day. Afterwards, we read more guest reviews and found numerous complaints stating that the Wi-Fi had been unavailable for a long time. This suggests that the issue was not temporary, despite what we were told on arrival. Based on our experience, I would not recommend this hotel. The advertised amenities were not available, communication was poor, and there appeared to be no effective support for guests when problems arose.

Beautiful affordable accommodation. Stayed in a triple room within the hotel. Modern & clean. Super comfy beds & bedding. Room available an hour earlier than check-in. Great location with train station right next door making commuting to London super easy & accessible. Beautiful park with marina. The cafe serves lovely food & drink all reasonably priced. Friendly & welcoming staff. We will be back :)
