Camping in Everthorpe
3 campsites, glamping sites and caravan parks
There are no campsites in Everthorpe itself, and as with the rest of England, wild camping on private farmland here is illegal without the landowner's permission, so any camping trip to this part of the Yorkshire Wolds needs to be planned around an established site. The nearest options tend to cluster around Market Weighton, South Cave and further out towards Beverley and the Humber, ranging from small farm campsites to more fully serviced caravan and touring parks, several of which welcome tents as well as motorhomes.
The chalk terrain of the Wolds makes for firm, well-drained ground that copes reasonably well with wet weather compared with the clay vales below, though the escarpment itself is steep enough that most sites sit on the gentler farmland around its base rather than up on the tops. The Yorkshire Wolds Way running close by makes this a popular area for walkers looking to combine a short multi-day hike with camping stopovers, particularly on the stretch between the Humber Bridge and Market Weighton.
Late spring through to early autumn is the most comfortable window for camping here, when the ground is driest and the days long enough to make the most of the surrounding countryside, from North Cave Wetlands' bird hides to the open views along the escarpment above Everthorpe. Midsummer also brings the chance to time a visit around the Kiplingcotes Derby in nearby Kiplingcotes, though that historic race actually runs in March. For those who would rather not pitch a tent, a small but growing number of glamping options, including shepherd's huts and pods, have appeared around the Wolds in recent years, offering a more comfortable way to experience this quiet, chalky corner of East Yorkshire.
