What visitors say
A Coastal Gem: Fleetwood’s Boating Lake If you’re looking for a slice of classic British seaside charm that hasn’t lost its polish, the Fleetwood Boating Lake (located right by the Marine Hall) is a standout. It’s one of those rare spots that manages to feel nostalgic without feeling dated. Here’s why it’s worth a visit: Immaculate Maintenance: One of the first things you notice is how clean and tidy the entire area is. The gardens are well-kept, and the lake itself is clear of the typical debris you might find in public water features. It’s a credit to the local upkeep. A Hub for Boaters: It’s a joy to watch the model boat enthusiasts. Whether it’s sleek yachts or detailed scale replicas, the lake is constantly "in use," giving the area a lively, purposeful energy that’s relaxing to observe. Family-Friendly Fun: It’s arguably one of the best spots in the area for crabbing. You’ll always see families lined up along the edge, and because the environment is so well-maintained, it feels like a safe and pleasant place to spend an afternoon with the kids. A Touch of History: Set against the backdrop of the 1930s Art Deco Marine Hall, the lake feels like a bridge to Fleetwood’s Victorian and Edwardian heyday. It’s a reminder of the town’s rich maritime heritage and its history as a premier seaside resort. The Verdict: Whether you're there to captain a model vessel, catch a few crabs, or just take a breezy stroll with a view of the Wyre Estuary, the boating lake is a peaceful, scenic high point of Fleetwood. Would you like me to find some information on the best times for crabbing based on the local tides, or perhaps a list of nearby cafes to grab a coffee afterward?

As any parent is over half term, we where looking for things to keep the kids occupied. We found Fleetwood boating lake and ideal place to spend a few hours. We arrived early and glad we did as by 11 it was getting fairly busy but still plenty of space to 'Crab'. There is a small kiosk to buy what you need including the bate, if I recall correctly £5 for a bucket, line and bait. As you can see from the pictures the crabs are a good size and not long enough between catching them for the kids to get bored, would recommend for a few hours to keep the kids entertained.

Beautiful, peaceful, yet also quite busy little lake. Great place for catching crabs and tiny fish or jellyfish. Everyone very friendly and helping one another. Lots of families with children. Some people with dogs. Model boats being raced on the lake. Very enjoyable 4 hours spent socialising and crabbing!! Great fun and all free. Crab catching kits, nets and buckets etc sold locally at fair prices and well worth it. Also possible to get hot drinks within a short walk. Public toilets, clean free to use are on site. Looked after by the local community. A lovely atmosphere.
