About Pococksgate Farm
Pococksgate Farm offers a delightful escape just outside Frant, where Gabriel's Rest — an ensuite shepherd's hut — sits in a private, secluded field amid rolling countryside. The working farm setting provides genuine rural peace, with showers, toilets and drinking water on hand, and the site welcomes families year-round.
It's a solid base for exploring Tunbridge Wells and the surrounding area, though note that pets aren't permitted and there's no WiFi — which some will see as a blessing. The shepherd's hut itself strikes a lovely balance between cosy charm and practical comfort, making it an appealing choice for couples or small families after a taste of farm life without roughing it too much.

What visitors say
Perfect for a short "get away from it all" camping break. Some here complaining about the sawdust toilets but they are cleaner than most conventional campsite toilets and it's clear what you're getting on the website. No idea why you'd book here and then moan about that! If you're looking for posh facilities, go and find your sterile, hemmed in campsites with screaming kids and cbeek-by-jowl pitches. If you prefer a back to basics experience, this is for you. Idyllic location where you can just pitch up and chill.

Hard to find campsites that are just nature and let you get on with it without feeling the need to put in a load of mod cons. This is exactly what we look for and exactly what you get. Quiet, relaxing, owners very helpful should you need help. Perfect balance

I rated the rooms as 3 stars... obviously, you don't have a room, but in terms of private spaced out areas to camp, I would give it a 3. It's a large field, but due to long grass in the middle, camping is only around the outside out of the field, with the corners being the best part, they are occupied very early on in the day. You aren't camping next to someone, but I had the impression you had a more private area. It's advertised as quite camping, but unfortunately, there are planes flying to Gatwick overhead at 5,000 ft from the ground every 20 minutes or so. There is also a pub locally, and at night with sound travelling so well, you can hear the punters singing ABBA from the furthest point of the field. But the guests are quite and respectful. The staff were incredible, we needed more fire wood around 9pm, so had texted the number provided and they delivered it to our tent, with a card machine ready, so I would rate the service 5 stars. I would visit here again for a local cheap place to camp but overall couldn't give it a 5 star experience.

Great weekend get away, run by a lovely family that will periodically come around to greet and offer guests certain condiments such as a fire pit and utensils. The turn into the site is quite easy to miss as it’s an extremely sharp left so as you drive up look to the left almost behind!! Would definitely recommend. Be ware this provides the full camping experience with sawdust loos, kettle showers and a hose pipe for washing hands and pots. Love it!!
