Certificated location at Porch House pub in Stow-on-the-Wold, with showers and a restaurant.

About Porch House Certificated Location

Porch House Certificated Location is a small camping spot attached to a historic pub and restaurant in the centre of Stow-on-the-Wold. The site itself is intimate in scale, offering just a handful of pitches next to the building, which dates back to 947 AD and now operates as a chic B&B and dining venue with a patio.

Facilities are basic: showers are available. The real draw is proximity to the pub's restaurant, which serves food including Sunday roasts, steak and ale pie, and sticky toffee pudding. The atmosphere is generally warm and welcoming, though service can be uneven. Being on the high street means the site will be busier and noisier than a rural campsite, and it suits campers who want to be in the thick of a Cotswolds market town rather than seek seclusion. Independent shops and the Cotswold Cheese Company are within seconds of the entrance.

We had the most amazing meal on Sunday at The Porch House. Richard was super friendly and made us feel at home despite our fussy baby. The team were really accommodating and the food was amazing. We will definitely return! We only popped in for lunch but if the rooms are anything like the pub I am sure they’re gorgeous!

We had a wonderful dinner at The Porch House whilst staying in Stow-on-the-Wold with another couple on Friday 5th June. Having heard that it is reputedly the oldest inn in England, it was high on our list of places to visit, and it certainly didn't disappoint. The building itself is full of character and history, with a warm and inviting atmosphere that made for a lovely evening. The staff were welcoming, attentive and professional throughout, striking just the right balance between being helpful and allowing us to relax and enjoy our meal. The food was excellent. Two of us chose the duck, which was beautifully cooked and full of flavour. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the pork belly, whilst the mushroom pie was equally delicious. We somehow found room for dessert and were very glad we did – both the brownie and the sticky toffee pudding were superb. All in all, it was a fantastic dining experience in a truly unique setting. I would happily recommend The Porch House to anyone visiting the Cotswolds and would certainly return on our next trip to Stow-on-the-Wold.

We had a lovely Sunday lunch at the Porch House. The food was absolutely delicious – I had the roast beef and my husband chose the trio of meats, and both were excellent. Instead of having a starter, we shared the rosemary and potato bread, which was fantastic. The accompanying butter was perfect and made a great start to the meal. By the time we’d finished our mains, unfortunately we were far too full to even consider dessert. The service was friendly and attentive throughout, making for a really enjoyable dining experience. We would definitely recommend and look forward to returning.

This Inn is very old but beautifully updated and maintained. If you stay at an old Inn like this you must be prepared for quirky stairs and. ceilings and baths where the sink is in the bedroom. Beds were comfy, food was delicious , no AC worked for us because it wasnt hot but if it had been hot it may have been uncomfortable with just a fan. Stow on Wold is a great location and a bustling cotswold town with plenty of pubs, shops snd coffee! The busses stop there so getting to different towns is easy.
