Had our last night in the campervan here before heading home after a week long scotland trip. A lovely family run farm and campsite. Friendly, warm welcome and Fiona came to check everything was ok early evening which was a lovely touch. The pitch was perfect right beside the gentle sound of the river with lots of beautiful birdsong. A real gem of a place if you want to get away from the madding crowd and truly relax. Lovely to meet Fionas sons Tom and Jim too who really made us feel at home. Would definitely recommend a visit. Thank you to you all for your kind hospitality.

1st camp of the was a late affair, booked Friday night for a weekend camp. High Hall farm campsite in Westmorland n Furness, east of the M6 in the lakes and only a 20 odd minutes drive from either Carlisle or Penrith, 40 odd minutes from Keswick. Route in takes you though some quiet but stunning countryside, the roads are certainly interesting, single track sudden drop offs and that’s the actual road that disappears in front of you, especially coming in from the north, but you soon enter a hidden valley where the site is nestled. As you enter the site , a sign informs you of pitches and a number to contact Fiona to check in. Site has around 18 pitches with a glamping pod, pitches are huge, you neighbours are around 10-20 meters away and 16amp EHU. If your on a pitch where the EHU is some distance away, the the owners supply extension cables. We chose pitch 18 next to the Croglin water, around 8 pitches skirt the stream and 3 others sit next to the small fishing pond. The site is part of the Greener Camping Club and a £12 joining fee is added to the price of your not members. The site has around 5 compost toilets and around 4 rustic hot water showers within the general site. But if this is not your thing, don’t fret as a more modern shower block with flushing toilets roasting showers are up by the farm. Fire pits at every pitch and for £10 you get a huge bucket of logs plus a bench. Up at the shower block ( this is up hill but you can take your car) you have 3 toilets 4 showers, sinks pot washing facilities hob microwave kettle toaster tea coffee washing machine driers which has pods available to use, plus a honesty shop. Showers are clean though the changing area is just slatted wood and the gravel floor can be seen below. You need to bring your flip flops. I also didn’t see a ready made up mop n bucket to clean the shower area after use, as other sites I’ve been to The site is amazing quiet apart from the wildlife 🤣 we had toads croaking at the door, pheasants and ducks skirting the roof, owls hooting away and other strange noises where you wouldn’t dare look out for. Ohh and you can’t forget the farm cat checking in on you There is WiFi but only up at the shower block, and Fiona pops by now and again to check everything is ok This is an amazing site, perfect for dipping into the lakes but truly this side of the lakes is stunning. No issues but personally I’ve prefer a proper floor in the changing area of the shower cubicle, this area can get dirty and one night someone had been in before me, and grass clippings were in the shower tray from the floor, not a fault of the campsite but the dirty bugger before me. Also I’d provide concrete blocks for the fire pits as they are just killing the grass and so to preserve the natural beauty of the place Amazing stay amazing site highly recommended

Great campsite with excellent showers and everything you might need close by. The river flowing through really adds to the atmosphere, and I especially enjoyed stargazing at night. Had a wonderful time, and Fiona was very friendly and helpful :))
