Hotels in Grantley

Grantley itself has no hotels beyond its own landmark: Grantley Hall, an 18th-century house on the banks of the River Skell that has been converted into a five-star hotel and spa, with grounds running down to the river and restaurants including one from Michelin-starred chef Shaun Rankin. It is the obvious choice for visitors wanting to stay in the village itself, and makes a comfortable, countryside base for exploring Fountains Abbey, Ripon and Nidderdale without needing to move again.

For more choice, or a different budget, Ripon is five miles away and has a spread of small hotels, coaching inns and bed and breakfasts within walking distance of the cathedral and market place, along with easy road access to the A1(M) for onward travel. Villages further into Nidderdale, such as Pateley Bridge, add traditional pubs with rooms and country inns closer to Brimham Rocks and the open moorland. Harrogate, around 30 minutes by car, offers a larger selection of hotels for anyone combining a stay near Grantley with a wider Yorkshire trip, including access to the town's spa heritage and rail links to Leeds and York.

Because Grantley is so small, most visitors treat it as a quiet base rather than a destination with its own hotel strip — the appeal is the setting on the Skell and the short drive to the abbey, rather than a choice of places to stay within the village itself.
