What visitors say
It was a good place but food was literally over by the time we got there (about 2pm). Really surprising considering they are a tourist place. Loved the whiskey collection and the gift shop was really good but otherwise I was really disappointed as me and my kids went hungry. Maybe recommended going to the place earlier on the day… we did see a wedding which was really great!

We stopped off here for a rest and look around 2.5 hours in to a 4 hour journey to Ayrshire , which ended up being 6 hrs long so we are so glad we did stop off firstly the area is beautiful and well kept there was plenty of parking. The views where lovely from the bridge through the little maze , children’s play park was great kids enjoyed that to stretch their legs and all free we went to the cafe/restaurant there was 2 sides one for bigger meals one for lighter snacks we got a few drinks and a lovely Scottish fondant fancy cake, we had a good look around the shop where they sold a variety of things we bought a Scottish shortbread cookie which was different to anything back home filled with jam in the centre and my husband got a jam and cream filled bun which he enjoyed there where samples of Scottish made cider which my husband enjoyed so bought a bottle for when we arrived at our final destination he rated that as the best he’d tasted. Definitely worth a visit and we’d stop here again rather than service stations

A place for romance and getaways sneaky weddings , lovers united , cute and quirky a must see , We visited the famous blacksmith shop at Gretna Green and really enjoyed learning about its history. It has a charming, traditional feel and gives a real sense of the romance and heritage the place is known for. The shop itself is interesting to browse, with plenty of souvenirs and gifts, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. It was lovely to see such an iconic spot and imagine all the couples who have passed through over the years. A must-visit if you’re in Gretna Green — full of character, history, and a unique atmosphere that makes the experience memorable.

Lovely walk around the experience. Shops, cafés and more. Very pretty place to visit. Plenty of parking. No weddings whilst we were there, but it's better that way as the ceremony rooms are closed if there's a ceremony in progress (obviously you wouldn't want every Tom Dick and Harry disturbing your wedding). We'll be going back in the morning for breakfast in one of the cafés. The visitor centre isn't just for couples getting married. It's a lovely place to visit with a very romantic history.
