Bwthyn Meulan

Photo: Bwthyn Meulan

Bwthyn Meulan is a converted barn on a country lane outside Caernarfon, with views across to the Snowdonia mountains and down toward the coast. The building sits within the owner's grounds, a mile from a sandy beach, with its own fully enclosed garden, patio and private hot tub. You have the whole property to yourself, sleeping up to eight across four bedrooms.

Downstairs is an open-plan living and dining space with a wood burner and smart TV, plus a kitchen fitted with electric oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher and fridge. There's a utility room with washing machine. Two bedrooms are on this floor: one with a king bed and ensuite shower, one with a king bed and a bathroom with bath and shower. Upstairs, two more bedrooms each contain two single beds. Wi-Fi, bed linen, towels and heating are included; wood for the burner is provided to start. The garden has a barbecue and furniture. Parking for two cars is available. One pet stays free. Smoking is not permitted.

Caernarfon's castle and railway station are six miles away; the Ffestiniog Railway, which climbs into the slate country at Blaenau Ffestiniog, runs from nearby Porthmadog. The area suits families and groups wanting beach access combined with Snowdonia walking and attractions. Fishing is available locally.

What a lovely cottage! There were 8 of us and the cottage was absolutely gorgeous with plenty of room for us all and on the plus side we had a lovely hot tub. The view are amazing. The beach is within walking distance and there is a great bus service to Caernarvon. Ellen the lady that owns the property was a fantastic host and nothing was too much trouble. Absolutely well worth a visit. I can't wait until our next visit.

We loved our week here! On arrival our host showed us around the amazing building and left us with some freshly made cakes after our journey. The place was spotless and beautifully decorated. The hot tub was the icing on the cake and was used everyday including when it rained! We were able to travel everywhere within 25 minutes. There is a lot to do and see locally and some superb restaurants. We recommend the Cwellyn Arms and to take the scenic mountain road route! Overall, 10/10!

Perfect base for a family holiday and for exploring north wales. Clean, modern barn conversion with huge open plan living area, 4 large double bedrooms, hot tub and enclosed doggy-friendly garden. Loved the location: rural yet only minutes from Dinas Dinlle (5 mile long sandy beach with smattering of cafes) and Glynllifon country park (woodland walks and rivers) whilst Caernarfon, Bangor, Llandudno, Conway, Anglesey, Snowdonia, Harlech, Port Meriion all within easy reach for a day out. Grandkids loved the hot tub and the cake that was waiting in the kitchen on our arrival.

Beautiful cottage and the owner is amazing. The famous Victoria sponge was there on arrival. Sky sports for a whole week of football over Easter was brilliant and the hot tub was used every night. Faultless.
