Barcdy Caravan & Camping Park

Gwynedd

A small, sheltered touring and tent site above the Dwyryd estuary

About Barcdy Caravan & Camping Park

Barcdy is a small, family-run touring and camping park set in a secluded vale above Talsarnau, a couple of miles from Harlech, with views stretching across the Dwyryd estuary towards Portmeirion and the mountains of Eryri National Park. It takes touring caravans, motorhomes and tents, with electric hookup available on both touring and tent pitches, and the owners are known for keeping the site quiet and uncrowded even in peak weeks.

Wi-Fi is available across the whole site, a rarity for a park of this size, and the layout makes good use of the sheltered vale to keep pitches out of the worst of the coastal wind. Shower and toilet blocks are kept close to both the touring and tent areas, and a small number of static caravans are also available to hire for those without their own equipment, including a three-bedroom, six-berth option that suits families wanting a base for the week rather than a tent.

Barcdy's setting between the sea and the mountains puts Harlech Castle, Portmeirion village and the Ffestiniog narrow-gauge railway all within a short drive, and the site is well regarded locally as a good, unpretentious base for exploring this stretch of the Snowdonia coast rather than a destination with its own extensive facilities. Arrivals are welcome from 1pm and departures by 11am, with some flexibility offered outside the busiest summer weeks, and the owners are on hand for local advice on walks, tides and the best beaches nearby.
