About York House

York House is a late-Victorian residence on Hardwicke Road in Cusop, at the edge of Hay-on-Wye, set within a large south-facing garden that gives it more outdoor space than most B&Bs in the town centre. Its position just outside the main built-up area means a short walk into Hay itself, past the Swan at Hay hotel, following the road that continues towards Bredwardine.

Rooms are simply furnished in keeping with the character of the house, and breakfast is served each morning in a dedicated dining room, with guests able to choose an individual table or share with other visitors if they prefer. Check-in from mid-afternoon and a mid-morning checkout follow a fairly standard B&B pattern, with early check-in available on request.

The Cusop location suits visitors who like the idea of a garden and a slightly quieter setting while still being within easy walking distance of Hay's bookshops, pubs and the castle, and its long-standing presence on the edge of town has built up a solid base of repeat visitors over the years.
