A Great Crossroads Pit-Stop with a Side of History Popped into The Trumpet Inn on Bank Holiday Monday for lunch and found it to be an excellent stopping point. There is something quite grounding about eating in a building that has stood at this junction for roughly 800 years. The name itself comes from the old stagecoach days when drivers had to blow their trumpets to signal their arrival at the crossroads—a much more charming predecessor to the modern car horn. The Food & Drink • Homemade Steak and Ale Pie: This was the standout. Very good quality, proper "homemade" feel, and perfect for a pub lunch. • Beef Lasagne: This was perfectly fine—an "okay" pub standard—but didn't quite reach the heights of the pie. • Guinness: A very solid pint and, at £5.10, good enough value that I had to have two. • Menu: They have a good range of starters, mains, and a tempting dessert list. Atmosphere and Service The place was spotlessly clean. You can really see the 17th-century craftsmanship in the beams and the stonework around the fireplaces. It manages to balance that ancient charm with a bright, open dining space and a lovely outdoor garden area. The service was attentive and the whole operation felt very well-run. Overall: Whether you’re stopping for a quick coffee or a full meal, it’s a reliable, historic spot with plenty of local character and ample parking.

Food was fantastic me and my missus was so impressed with it. The lady that served us was super friendly with great manners. If only we lived closer we would be in there every week.

We visited The Trumpet Inn on a Saturday night while staying at Oasis Lodges. The food and drinks were absolutely delicious, and the service was excellent! 👏 They kindly seated us in the back room because we had our dog with us. The food was top-notch with truly tasty options. My only suggestion would be for a few more vegetarian choices. 🤩🐶

Warm log fires, cozy pub and delicious food! The roast had almost everything i could ask for! Although it didnt have crackling (i got the ultimate roast) Homemade gravy and crispy tatties! Dog friendly and cash recommended
