Raasay

Photo: stu larsen

Raasay is a single-storey detached bungalow sleeping six across three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The main bedroom has a king bed and ensuite shower; two further bedrooms each contain a pair of single beds, served by a family bathroom with bath and separate shower. Everything unfolds on one level—the living room with woodburner and smart TV opens to a kitchen/dining space fitted with a range cooker, dishwasher and washer-dryer, with direct access to a patio and enclosed garden beyond.

The island itself is compact and atmospheric, crisscrossed by walking paths that lead past castle ruins and down to coastal scenery. A distillery operates here too, and there is a bike store on the property if you want to explore further. Parking for two cars is available on site. Essentials including heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are included; the bungalow is non-smoking. No smoking, please.

Definitely worth a visit. Raasay isn't big and perfect for a day trip. Be prepared for roads that are difficult to drive and stunning views across the bay.
