Sligachan Camp Site

I only gave this four stars because it is not any kind of luxury place to stay. It is rather a large open area with good facilities that has quite flexible booking. If you want electricity book ahead we did not need it. This is actually a great place to spend the night and we just extended for another one. We both a spot on the grass with our mobile homes, which, even though there was rain was still accessible. They do pack as many as possible so you can normally get a spot later on the day when everything else is completely booked out. There is also a lot of room for tent camping, but be sure to set up on the hill behind the bathrooms. It should be pretty dry, even in the rain. Right now we have a couple of tents standing left and right of our campers that are in the water because they parked on the flat grassy area and it is raining. Bathrooms are very modern and have recently been redone and though there are so many campers, there was always a shower and toilets free. We did not have the tacos from the taco stand, which it was at 5 PM, but it looked really tasty at the price is fair. Reception has a selection of soft drinks and beer, which was a nice surprise after driving through the Scottish countryside to get here. 1 Hour drive to the lighthouse and Fairy Pools are 35 minutes. For 25 pounds you can’t beat it!

This is the most convenient campsite to base yourself for exploring Skye because of its central location. The taco shack is a bonus and the food is authentic and delicious. The Sligachan Hotel across the road is very handy too with a huge bustling restaurant (just turn up) and bar. The electric hook ups are at the road end of the site around gravel standings but there is plenty of room on the grass if you don’t need electric. There is a good little shop and the ablutions are very clean and modern. Although close to the main road, this seemed to be very quiet in the evenings. We enjoyed our stay!

An absolutely lovely site - from the welcome, through to the onsite facilities and the best tacos ever, I highly recommend you book a stay here. Showers and toilets were immaculate and although the laundry wasn't available due to being upgraded, it will be fantastic once ready. Nice covered dishwashing area and if you're camping you can cook undercover here too. Beautiful views over the loch and a pub within a couple of minutes walk.

We stayed here with our rv. Very quiet. Nice people, both staff and visitors. We found it quite expensive to stay here with 4 children even without electricity. They charge per person. Be aware. We found the showers to be clean and warm. The bathrooms were large and clean. There were a lot of people using the facilities though. The one disappointment was no laundry. We really needed to do some washing and we were told that the laundry would be up and running in a few weeks. So something to look forward to. It was very nice to stop, showers, rest, have access to wifi, and recharge. There is a taco hut on site that smelled good. I thought that it was too expensive for us so we passed on it. But it is there if you are so inclined. There is a Inn with a restaurant across the street that is walkable if you wish that instead.
