Rocpool Reserve
Culduthel Road, above the city centre · Hotel
A small, design-led boutique hotel above Inverness with striking rooms, private hot tubs on some terraces, and an acclaimed brasserie restaurant.
About Rocpool Reserve
Rocpool Reserve occupies a converted townhouse on a quiet rise above Inverness, a short walk or taxi ride from the castle and the river. It has built a reputation as the city's most design-conscious address, with a small number of rooms and suites finished in bold colour and dark wood rather than traditional Highland chintz.
Several of the upper rooms and suites open onto private balconies with hot tubs, a distinctive touch for a city-centre hotel, while the ground floor houses Chez Roux, a French-Scottish restaurant overseen by the Roux family that has become a dining destination in its own right. Service throughout is personal, reflecting the hotel's small scale.
Its slightly elevated position gives views over the rooftops towards the Moray Firth, and its distance from the centre, while short, means a quieter night's sleep than some of the hotels directly on Church Street. It suits couples and travellers wanting a boutique stay with a strong restaurant attached, rather than a large-scale hotel experience.
