Cors Goch National Nature Reserve is on the doorstep of Pant Y Mel, a converted barn on the owners' working smallholding in rural Anglesey. The property sits at the end of a private track in open countryside, surrounded by the kind of landscape that draws walkers and bird-watchers. Sandy beaches lie 4 miles away; Anglesey Sea Zoo, Beaumaris Castle and Plas Newydd are all within a short drive, along with boat trips to see puffins and seals. Local walking routes cross the area, and opportunities for golf, fishing and horse riding are nearby.

Everything is on the ground floor: an open-plan living space with dining and kitchen areas, three bedrooms (one double, two single, one single), and a shower room. The kitchen is equipped for cooking proper meals. Outside, a lawned garden has a decked sitting-out area with far-reaching views towards Snowdonia, and guests can use 22 acres of natural grounds shared with the owners. There is private parking for two cars, plus a bike store and space for boat storage. Essentials including electricity, Wi-Fi, bed linen and towels are covered. One well-behaved pet can stay free. The property does not permit smoking. The water supply comes from a borehole, and there are three steps in the garden.

We’ve been staying here every spring for almost 6 years now. Each visit we’re welcomed like family (the home baked cream teas and treats for our dog add to this), the cottage is lovely. The guest book alone is testimony to the number of repeat visitors that Glen and Harry receive. Fantastic location, always clean and the kitchen is well equipped. If you’re looking for a solid ‘base’ then this is perfect for walking locally and 10 minutes’ drive from stunning beaches.

Visited while friends were staying at the cottage. Furniture dated, uncomfortable, quite tatty & covered in cat hair from neighbouring house's cat. Supposed to sleep 5 but only enough seating for 4. No dining table, just a breakfast bar that seats 3. Caged dogs from the farm barked incessantly while we were inside the property. The photos on the online booking site look like they must have been taken a good decade ago.
