About Cateran Rest

This is the sort of place that meshes together ancient beauty of the Scottish landscapes with modern home comforts - the kind of spot for quality time, starting a new creative venture or rekindling an old friendship, so the owners of Cateran Rest say. It’s easy to see why: these luxury cabins are in a quiet Perthshire location, surrounded by lush green grass, woodlands with thick trunks and a small stream.

When you do go out, it might be to take a morning stroll around the woodlands or for a longer, more daring venture onto the historic Cateran Trail which runs past the site and follows a path once used by cattle raiders. One thing’s for sure, this area isn’t short on hiking and cycling routes, and there’s plenty more a short drive north in Cairngorms National Park.

After all that time in the outdoors, feel free to pick up some nibbles and a bottle of red from the well-stocked shop in Kirkmichael (20 minutes’ walk) before retiring to your luxury cabin. There’s a balcony if you feel like spying on wildlife and on any chillier nights, there’s a logburner that should warm the cockles and large windows providing views of the outside.

If you can’t quite be bothered with chopping and dicing one night, Kirkmichael has a pub and there are restaurants in the surrounding villages a short drive away. Or you might want to eat out while you’re visiting Blairgowrie or Pitlochry (both half an hour’s drive). Pitlochry is a fine place for golfing and fishing, by the way, if those are your sort of pastimes.

Absolutely beautiful area to rest and enjoy the peace and quiet. The hot tub was amazing and the cabin very cosy with a very well equipped kitchen area. Andrew, the owner, was very welcoming and there was never any problem if we needed to ask him something. Highly recommended.

Beautifully presented cabins in a gorgeous scenic location, right on the stunning Cateran Trail. Log fires, hot tubs under the stars, beautiful surrounding countryside - what more could you ask for? The owner is very nice too.

Of all the places I've visited this certainly is top of the list! Cateran Rest is based deep with Perthshire and is the perfect place for a peaceful getaway. Living in the city has made me appreciate these types of places a lot more and we were fortunate enough to stay here last month. Plenty of green space to explore, small villages to venture to and the ideal cabin to relax and recharge. We were able to hop in the car and drive to Pitlochry for lunch and visit the Hermitage for an afternoon walk. We had a full 2 bedroom cabin to ourselves with a wood burning stove, kitchen, cosy living room and a hot tub on our decking. We felt truly spoiled with the space we had. Our host was so attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. Can't wait to return again soon.

Absolutely beautiful log cabin, very isolated feeling (exactly what we wanted) but very well connected. Only a short walk to the local bar/restaurant and shop. It's just perfect, and the host Andrew was brilliant!
