Leebotwood

Leebotwood is a small village on the A49 between Shrewsbury and Church Stretton, sitting where the Cound Brook crosses the road on its way north towards Longnor. With a population of only around 230, it is a quiet, unassuming place, but its handful of 17th-century half-timbered cottages and its ancient parish church give it real character for its size. It was recorded as a settlement in the Domesday Book, and the parish today has twelve listed buildings, including two rated Grade II*.

The village's best-known landmark is the Pound Inn, a thatched 15th-century pub that is reputedly the oldest building in Leebotwood, with a beam bearing the date 1650. St Mary's Church, an ancient stone building with a square tower, was formerly attached to Haughmond Abbey.
