Right on Llandudno's Promenade, The County Hotel offers spacious sea-view rooms and a varied breakfast, though upkeep can be patchy.

About The County Hotel

Sea views from spacious rooms are the strong point at The County Hotel, a Promenade fixture in Llandudno with the coastline directly in front of it. Beds are comfortable and rooms have plenty of room to spread out, with en-suite bathrooms and family rooms available for those travelling with children. It's worth knowing that some parts of the building show their age, and a few rooms can feel a little worn, so this is a stay built around location and comfort rather than polish.

Breakfast comes with a decent range of choices, and the on-site restaurant, bar and snack bar cover meals and drinks without needing to leave the building; packed lunches and in-room drinks are also available. Free WiFi, a lift and free on-site parking round out the practical side of things, and pets are welcome for those travelling with a dog.

Outside the front door, the Promenade setting puts walking and cycling routes, watersports, fishing, golf and horse riding all within easy reach, along with pubs, restaurants and other eateries nearby for evenings out. It suits guests who want a straightforward seafront base in Llandudno with the view doing most of the work.

The location of the hotel is good and I'm sure the view would be lovely, if you're in the right room. We were placed in the basement, beneath the bar, since we had brought our dog. The building is not well maintained with cracks on the walls, stains on the carpets and a musty smell. It's in desperate need of a deep clean and redecorating. We both slept terribly due to the bed being ridiculously soft, and a constant noise from footsteps and talking in the bar above until 3am, even though the bar is supposed to close at 11pm. We've stayed in many hotels and hostels at a range of prices and never struggle to sleep, apart from here. This was not akin with the price paid, therefore we would not stay again.

Had a really good stay at this hotel with the best sea view from the windows. Room was clean and very spacious. Co-op , Sainsbury's nearby for essential stuff and also take ways available nearby.

Better dinner options would have made this 5 star as we had to eat out for better options. We had dogs with us, were given a dog friendly room which was great for them and what we needed, away from human only guests so you don’t feel stressed about them potentially annoying others and visa versa. Location is bang on the beach, a great walk to the sea and/or local restaurants to which there are many!! The pier is around 15 mins walk, great to walk off all the meals
