Vyrnwy Wild Welsh Camping

Tent and glamping site near Llanfyllin in Powys; Lake Vyrnwy and walking trails within reach.

About Vyrnwy Wild Welsh Camping

Vyrnwy Wild Welsh Camping sits close to Lake Vyrnwy, a reservoir surrounded by woodland and walking routes that draw visitors year-round. The site takes tent pitches and glamping accommodation, with showers on hand. Llanfyllin, a market town with shops and pubs, is nearby.

The lake itself is the main draw—a 1,200-acre expanse with footpaths around its perimeter and through the surrounding forest. There are waymarked trails of varying length, from short walks to full circuits, and the water attracts birdwatchers and photographers. The immediate area is quiet and hilly, typical of mid-Wales, with little else within immediate walking distance of the site itself.

Amazingly wild and beautiful campsite site. Thank you for an memorable stay 🫶 Carly the host was super helpful and friendly. I booked as solo female camper in my Ford transit near the river . Wow what a treat ! The views were incredible.Perfect for a reset/ retreat. Also, a perfect place to observe and connect to nature and watch the world go by. So fortunate this place is not far from where I live. I will definitely be returning with my children next time ! Can’t wait to visit again :) xx

This place is unreal, I'm not sure where to start.. The hosts are amazing, they were very accommodating and helped us in every way and made sure we were settled in. Anything we needed they were there at the drop of a hat and nothing seemed too much trouble. They even added extra chip in the muddy bits of the field to make sure we could get out and were comfy. The facilities are basic but it's all you need. The showers were clean and nice and hot. The toilet was a composting toilet which was clean and easy to use. The toilet and shower block was cleaned every day and topped up with toilet roll too The place its self is beautiful, tucked away in the middle of nowhere, at one with nature. The sights are amazing and it's so peaceful. We spent most nights by the fire listening to the river trickle by with the fire crackling and the owls hooting. The place is beautiful even in the rain. There's plenty of space for everyone and a fireplace provided to use too. Firewood can be bought from the hosts. If you need supplies, there's a big tesco a 30 minute drive. There's plenty of walking places and things to do near by. I would highly recommend this place if you're after a quiet week away getting back in touch with nature. We will be coming back!!

Selfishly I didn't want to leave a review because I don't want other people filling up this amazing site ha. But this is undoubtedly one of the best wild camp sites you'll ever stay at in the UK. Amazing location, great services and super friendly owner. If I lived closer, I would be here every single weekend. Book the riverside pitch and you'll be amazed.... Will defo be back. Thanks 🤙🏽

We had such a lovely stay at Wonderful Wilderness - Dolygaseg. The place is incredibly peaceful, surrounded by beautiful nature 🌿✨ It’s perfect if you want to escape the busy city and truly relax. Everything felt clean and well cared for. We’d definitely love to come back again!
