About North Wales Bell Tents

Looking for a wildlife haven with a side of digital detox? North Wales Bell Tents delivers both in spades. Tucked along the River Dee, this back-to-basics spot attracts otters, buzzards, red kites, kingfishers and herons—and its terrible mobile reception only sweetens the deal for anyone craving proper downtime. On clear nights, minimal light pollution rewards campers with sublime starry skies, and there's nothing quite like an evening around the campfire (locally sourced logs available on-site).

The location puts you a ten-minute drive from Llangollen and its eleven-mile UNESCO-listed canal, stretching from Horseshoe Falls to the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct. Stroll the towpath, take a horse-drawn boat ride, or cast a line—daily fishing passes are available for the river within walking distance. An on-site catering trailer serves wood-fired pizza and hearty breakfasts, handy fuel before tackling the surrounding walking and cycling routes. Snowdonia National Park and Bala's watersports scene are under 35 minutes away, making this a quietly excellent base for outdoor adventures.

Most welcoming campsite one could wish for. As soon as I arrived, Claire made the very sweaty and exhausted me, a strong coffee and offered biscuits. Such a welcoming place. Fab showers and a lovely pitch and the most amazing camp kitchen that kept me dry for dinner and breakfast. The whole group was very welcoming and I enjoyed sitting and chatting with them for a while after dinner. Thanks so much for making this place available for the Offa's dyke hikers.

Like the last reviewer says, I'm also well late with this review, as was there in August towards the end of my Offas Dyke walk. This was one of my favourite camp sites on the trail. Wonderful owners, amazing bathrooms, the little shed with the cook stove, fireplace, the views. It was simply amazing. They also have this brilliant option which is they buy canned food/packed food for campers and hardly put anything on the price. I bought a few things. I ended up staying two nights, as the second day the weather turned bad and I just chilled out there till the next day, cosy in the little hut. I can't recommend this place enough. Anyone doing the Offas path should definitely stay here before they do the Moels/Clywydians. It's a perfect pit stop. Can't recommend it enough and a massive thanks to the owners for their wonderful and kind hospitality. I haven't forgotten. 11/10

Nice campsite in a good location. Lots of development work going on so I guess it’s going to be even better. Relaxed and friendly owners who are happy to help. Short hop off the Offas Dyke trail to camp before our final hike to Prestatyn. Plus point was somewhere for tent users to relax in the cabin at the top. Only negative was a terrible taste in music, think it was the Grease soundtrack blasting away till approx 11pm

I'm a little late with this review, but I would like to say how much I enjoyed my overnight camp at the site. The pitch was quiet, the showers / facilities fantastic and the campers kitchen was so much better than sitting over a small camping stove. Thanks
