Camping in Mablethorpe

Wild camping is not legally permitted in England without the landowner's explicit permission, so any camping trip to Mablethorpe means booking into one of the established holiday parks that line this stretch of the Lincolnshire coast. The terrain here is flat and low-lying, dune-backed coastline giving way to the wide, level Lindsey Marsh inland, and caravan holiday parks are a deeply established part of local culture, with generations of families returning to the same sites summer after summer.

Golden Sands Holiday Park, on the seafront directly opposite the Seal Sanctuary, is one of the best known in the area, with a touring and camping field set around coarse fishing lakes alongside its static caravans, plus indoor and outdoor pools and an adventure activity village. Other holiday parks are dotted along the coast towards Sutton-on-Sea and inland towards Theddlethorpe, offering everything from grassy touring pitches for tents and motorhomes to fully serviced hardstanding pitches for larger units.

For something with a bit more comfort than a tent, glamping options on the Lincolnshire coast have grown in recent years, with pods, safari tents and static caravans available to rent by the night at several parks around Mablethorpe and the neighbouring villages. The best time to camp here runs from late spring through to early autumn, when the weather is at its most reliable and the seafront attractions, entertainment and pools at the larger parks are in full operation; this coast is exposed to North Sea winds, so outside the summer months many touring pitches and facilities close for the season.
