About Fort Road Hotel
Fort Road Hotel occupies a converted townhouse on the edge of Margate's Old Town, a short stroll from the harbour and Turner Contemporary. It is a small, considered property, with the restaurant downstairs setting the tone for the rest of the building.
Rooms are furnished in a pared-back, contemporary style, mixing reclaimed and locally made furniture with muted colours and good linen. Several rooms make the most of the town's rooftops and coastal light rather than relying on sea views.
The ground-floor restaurant has built a strong local reputation for seasonal, produce-led cooking, making the hotel as much a destination for dinner as for an overnight stay, and it suits couples and design-conscious visitors over families with young children.

We had such an amazing stay at this hotel. Big shout out to amazingly lovely Annie who made a mean Cherry sour negroni and who was nothing but helpful with the sunniest personality! The room was everything I wished for ringing in my big birthday! Great views and great amenities and comfort; breakfast was also delicious!! I hope I will be back soon. Thank you Fort Road Hotel 💙🙏🏻

Lovely little hotel - and SO handy for the Turner Gallery, which is literally just across the road, and Margate old town. And nice to reflect, as you watch the sun go down over the sea, that this is almost certainly a place where Mr Turner himself enjoyed a beer or two! Pleasant staff, good breakfast, fantastic roof terrace and a VERY nice bedroom - comfortable and absolutely spotless. (In fact, I don't think I have ever stayed in a hotel anywhere in the world that was so clean.)

Very cute hotel. Extremely neat and clearly recently renovated interiors. Cute amenities, environment-responsible toiletries, welcome biscuits. The rooms are simple but cozy, with books to read, small plants by the windows and a speaker for room music. Very lovely vibe, highly recommended. We were attended by Emanuele, who has been extremely kind and friendly with us :)

We stayed at Fort Road Hotel for two nights in April 2026 for our son and daughter-in-law’s wedding, and it couldn’t have worked out better. The whole wedding party took over the hotel, which made it feel really special and personal. The rooms were lovely - nicely decorated without being over the top - and the beds were very comfortable. It was just a really easy place to relax in between all the celebrations. Breakfast was great both mornings, with plenty to choose from, and everything was fresh and well done. The staff were so friendly and helpful, and nothing felt like too much trouble, even with a full wedding group there. All in all, it was a brilliant place for such an important family occasion, and we’d happily stay again.
