About Lickpenny Caravan Club Site
Lickpenny Caravan Club Site occupies a former sixteen-acre plant nursery above the village of Tansley, around three miles from Matlock Bath and within easy reach of both Matlock and Bakewell. Mature trees and long-established rhododendron planting give the site a more sheltered, landscaped feel than many touring parks in the area, a legacy of its previous life as a commercial nursery rather than open farmland.
The site was taken over by the Caravan Club in 2024 and now offers more than 120 hardstanding pitches, all with sixteen-amp electric hook-up, including a number of fully serviced pitches with water and drainage connections built in. Two centrally heated toilet and shower blocks serve the site, along with laundry facilities, a vegetable preparation area and electric vehicle charging points, reflecting the site's recent, thorough refurbishment under its new ownership.
A children's playground and a woodland walk run through the grounds, and dogs are welcome throughout on leads. The site takes touring caravans and motorhomes rather than tents, and its position just off the A615 makes it a straightforward, well-equipped base for exploring Matlock Bath, Matlock and the wider Derwent Valley without needing to tow through the narrower lanes closer to the village itself.
