Oakhill
The Hill, Cromford, two miles from Matlock Bath · Hotel
A Grade II listed Georgian mansion in historic Cromford, restored in 2021 with luxury suites, fine dining and landscaped grounds.
About Oakhill
Oakhill occupies a Grade II listed Georgian house built by the Arkwright family in the historic mill village of Cromford, part of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site around two miles south of Matlock Bath. The house was sympathetically restored and reopened under new ownership in 2021, combining its original period features with a thorough contemporary refit.
Accommodation ranges from four named luxury suites, including rooms styled around the Arkwright family and the Derwent itself, to a further ten en-suite bedrooms in the wider house. A fine dining restaurant and bar occupy the ground floor, alongside landscaped gardens and a small campsite with hook-ups in the grounds for those touring the valley.
Cromford's own attractions, including Cromford Mill and the Cromford Canal, are within walking distance, while Matlock Bath and its cable car are a short drive or towpath walk away, making Oakhill a good base for exploring the whole stretch of the Derwent Valley World Heritage Site.
