Northward Hill RSPB Reserve lies across the fields from this ground-floor cottage, home to the UK's largest heronry and regular sightings of barn owls, buzzards and egrets. The Haybarn sits on a 140-acre fruit farm in rural Medway, with access to the surrounding farmland and its own enclosed garden. High Halstow village is two miles away with a pub, shop and post office; Rochester, eight miles distant, offers cathedral-city amenities and Dickens heritage sites. The O2, Greenwich Park and Bluewater shopping centre are within reach for day trips, and London's high-speed rail link departs from Ebbsfleet.
The cottage has two bedrooms—a double and a single—and one bathroom with bath and shower. The open-plan living space includes a sofa bed, Freeview television and French doors opening to the garden. The kitchen is equipped for cooking from scratch, with an electric cooker, dishwasher and washing machine. Electricity, Wi-Fi and bed linen are included. You have your own parking space and a sitting-out area with garden furniture and barbecue. The farm keeps free-range poultry on-site, and in season you can pick and eat the fruit grown here; the same produce supplies top restaurants and retailers across the region.

Decoy Farm Cottages – Peaceful, Comfortable, and Full of Countryside Charm I had a fantastic stay at Decoy Farm Cottages. The cottage was spotless, cosy, and really well equipped, with everything you need for a comfortable break. The location is beautifully peaceful, surrounded by fields, wildlife, and the unique marshland landscape that makes High Halstow so special. It is a working farm, and that’s part of the charm — you naturally expect a bit of mud, machinery, and the day‑to‑day life of a farm around you. For me, it added to the authenticity and made the stay feel even more connected to the countryside. The hosts were welcoming and clearly take great pride in the cottages. Every detail was thought through, and the whole place feels cared for. Waking up to quiet mornings and ending the day with stunning sunsets made the stay memorable. If you’re looking for a relaxing countryside escape with genuine farm character, beautiful scenery, and a cottage that feels like home, Decoy Farm Cottages is outstanding. I’d happily return and highly recommend it.

We used this nice little cottage for using as a base while visiting cooling castle barns for a wedding.its down a long winding road but ideal for quite retreat..well equipped nicely decorated.. excellent heating .. you even get your own owl at night...

Such a wonderful cottage, it felt like a home from home, with amazing views to wake up to and a lovely farm shop not to far. The beds and shower where amazing and the sofa where so comfy too. Lovely back space and a pond out front with wonderful wild animal. Would definitely stay again x
