About The White Swan Inn
The White Swan has stood on Pickering's market place since the sixteenth century and has been in the same family's hands for decades, which shows in the level of care. Twenty-one rooms are split between the old inn, where the Vintage rooms have antique beds and sloping floors, and the converted stables behind, where the Hideaway rooms are larger and quieter.
Food and wine are taken seriously: the kitchen buys game and beef locally, the fish comes off the Whitby boats, and the cellar has an unusually deep list of St Emilion, a legacy of the owners' long relationship with one particular estate. The bar has flagged floors and a proper fire, and it is open to non-residents.
Pickering is the most practical base in the southern moors. The North Yorkshire Moors Railway terminus is a two-minute walk, Pickering Castle sits above the town, Dalby Forest is ten minutes away and Whitby around forty. Thornton-le-Dale and the Hole of Horcum are both close. Dogs are welcome by arrangement, and there is parking on site.

Perfect location right in the heart of Pickering. Parking on site is a great help. The room was really well equipped and very clean. The addition of fresh milk each day was an added bonus for us. Breakfast is wonderful! So much choice from the buffet with the addition of freshly cooked food from the kitchen if requested. The dinner menu is very varied with the offer of a ‘special’ each night. The best thing about the White Swan though is the staff. We were warmly welcomed by everyone but a special mention must go to the restaurant staff. They were incredibly friendly and not at all intrusive as some servers can be. We will definitely return and will recommend you to friends and family 🙏

My husband and I stayed st The White Swan last night. It exceeded our expectations even though the reviews are very good. The hospitality was first class, everyone we met were polite, friendly and professional. The accommodation was clean comfortable and cosy with tasteful decor. Car parking was available and spacious. The food was delicious and prepared to a high standard. Today we stayed for lunch and because it was father's day the gents were given a bottle of beer to take home as a treat.... what a thoughtful gesture. All in all it was exceptional. Thank you everyone for making our stay so memorable. We look forward to coming back soon.

Location is amazing, stopped for lunch, staff were friendly and polite, did not stay in the rooms so that is our food review £15 for a small sandwich is absolute robbery. Thought it would come with something but nope not even a side salad. Would not visit again which is a shame

Wonderful stay at this lovely hotel. The staff are so friendly and helpful. Super room with comfy bed and pillows. There was a fan in the room which was very welcome in the heatwave. Great central location. Can highly recommend.
