Grange Beck Farm - Otter
North Yorkshire

The Dales are close enough for a day out, and York itself is within reach for exploring the city. Grange Beck Farm sits on working land where the North Yorkshire landscape rolls away in every direction—the kind of place where dark skies make for proper stargazing. Otter is one unit on the farm, a detached retreat with its own parking and a front garden with seating and a barbecue.
Inside, everything fits on the ground floor: a combined living and dining space with a sofa bed and smart TV, a kitchen with hob and combi microwave-oven, a double bedroom, and a shower room. Bed linen, towels, WiFi and heating are all included. One dog is welcome here (it is sheep country, so dogs must stay on a lead). The property has a natural water supply via borehole. No smoking.
This works well for a couple wanting a rural base, or a family of four who don't mind sharing the sofa bed. The farmstead offers a genuine sense of being away from things without sacrificing the basics—you can cook, stay connected if you need to, and move about without faffing with external steps or tight stairs.

We enjoyed a fantastic vineyard tour and wine tasting experience here. The tour was interesting and informative, it was nice to see the family working the farm at the same time! The tasting was also great, we tried 4 wines along with some nibbles and everything was delicious! For each wine the details of it were explained along with a food tasting recommendation. It is a family run business and they're all knowledgeable, hospitable, and very friendly. Would 100% recommend coming here for a tour and/or to buy some wine :)

We had such a fantastic time today at the bread-making course we booked for my mother’s birthday! From start to finish it was a brilliant experience. Chef Jamie was incredibly knowledgeable and explained everything in a really clear and friendly way, making the whole process fun and easy to follow. We learned how to make sourdough from scratch and even made our own sourdough crackers, which were absolutely delicious. They also went above and beyond to make the day special by surprising my mum with a birthday cake, which was such a thoughtful touch and made the day even more memorable. Lunch was also wonderful. We got to enjoy some sourdough that Jamie had brought along, and the two super friendly ladies from the vineyard put on a fantastic spread of cheese, ham, soup, sausage rolls and more for everyone. It was such a lovely break in the day and really added to the whole experience. We came home with our own dough resting in the proving basket they provided, and we can’t wait to bake it later. They also gave us a sourdough starter to take home, so we’re excited to keep baking and experimenting with more sourdough goodies. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!!!
