A well-placed campsite near Alnwick
About The Afterlands
Set in open Northumberland countryside near Alnwick, The Afterlands is a pop-up campsite that keeps things refreshingly simple. With around 26–50 non-electric grass pitches for tents and motorhomes, it suits campers happy to trade amenities for peace and a genuinely remote feel. Dogs are welcome year-round, and the site's portable-toilet-only setup won't suit everyone, but those after proper back-to-basics camping—families included—will appreciate the quiet and the lack of overcrowding.
Pitches start from around £20 a night, and the location puts you within easy reach of Alnwick's castle and gardens, plus the wider Northumberland coast and National Park. If you want hook-ups or heated washblocks, look elsewhere; if you want stars, space, and straightforward camping, The Afterlands delivers.

What visitors say
We only arrived yesterday but love it so far. There are pubs in either direction, about 30 minutes walk, if you want to go out for food. Lots of museums and Roman history, which we're looking forward to exploring. The showers are the best of any campsite I've been to. Would recommend.

Staff lovley and helpful. Site clean and quiet. Showers warm anytime. If you want somewhere bang in the middle and very close to Hadrians wall and museums it's perfect. Would suggest walking the wall 1st before doing any museums as it gives you a better understanding of the Romans 2000 year old task.

A great campsite in a perfect location...easy access from main road, Hadrians Wall 20 min walk, plus multiple other walks from the site, bus right at end of lane and lovely views. Had a warm and friendly welcome, excellent facilities and great pitches. Highly recommended - zero dislikes 🙂

What a lovely site ❤️ Really well set out to allow a sense of privacy if you want it (think it was about £2 extra?). Level pitches that are terraced and surrounded by mature trees & grassed area with picnic benches. Lovely, clean facilities block & reception with the offer of breakfast sandwiches in the morning. Great location for 2 local pubs & lots of visitor attractions.
