Coalburn Cottage sits on a working farm outside Eglingham, a small village with a pub, roughly 7 miles from Alnwick. The location puts you on the edge of open countryside with public bridleways and footpaths starting from the property itself—useful if walking is what you're after, and cycling routes are nearby too. Alnwick and the wider attractions of Northumberland are within easy reach by car.

The cottage is a single-storey conversion, with everything on the ground floor: a combined living and dining space opening onto a stone patio and enclosed garden; a kitchen equipped for proper cooking; one bedroom with a zip-and-link bed (can be configured as two singles); and a bathroom with both bath and shower. There's a wood burner in the living area, underfloor heating throughout, and Wi-Fi. Parking is available for two cars, and a bike store is on site. One small or medium-sized dog is welcome. The property is yours alone, and essentials like electricity, bed linen, towels and logs for the burner are included.

This suits couples wanting a quiet base for exploring the Northumberland hills, or anyone drawn to countryside and wildlife—deer, hares and various birds are common around the cottage. No smoking inside.

This has to be one of, if not THE best holiday cottage in the UK. The owner has thought of everything and the cottage is set in an amazing location with a fully enclosed garden for dogs to excercise. Another plus is the abundance of wildlife that come really close.

A standalone hidden gem set amongst fantastic scenery with an abundance of wildlife .Super dog friendly fully enclosed garden and the cottage itself is first class.Nothing has been overlooked for your every need ,including the softest towels and first class toiletries, plus dog towels treats, balls ,bird food for the feeders situated right outside the dining area window and a welcome goodie tray of treats.Although remote (so peaceful) you are well situated for all the amenities the nearest being Alnwick and for all the interesting places ie Bamburgh Castle, Holy Island ,Alnwick Castle ,Berwick on Tweed and many bays along the coast. Our stay was just perfect and we will not hesitate to return .Many thanks to the owners of this delightful cottage for making our stay memorable.
