Cygnet Cottage

Northumberland

View on Google Maps

This stone cottage sits on the quieter edge of Seahouses village, where the harbour and beach are within walking distance and the main street's shops and restaurants are moments away. Built to last, it has the solid character of a traditional Northumberland property, with a working woodburner in the living room and the sort of layout that lets four people spread out comfortably across two storeys.

Downstairs, a kitchen with a full range of appliances opens onto a dining area, and the living room faces out towards the front garden. Upstairs are two bedrooms—one with a kingsize bed, one with two singles—and a bathroom with a shower over the tub. The essentials like heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are included, along with logs for the fire. A small enclosed garden with seating overlooks the street; parking for one car is at the rear. One well-behaved dog stays free.

The village itself is a working fishing harbour with a genuine character. Boat trips to the Farne Islands depart from here, and there's a straightforward mix of accommodation, food, and local life rather than resort attractions. The beach runs long and open to either side. Smoking is not permitted inside.
