The Old Workshop is a converted barn on the Rock estate in Northumberland, a single-storey property with everything on one level. Built in 1856 as part of the working centre for the estate, it now comprises an open-plan living and dining kitchen, a separate bedroom, and a bathroom. A kingsize bed, a 40-inch smart TV, and a dishwasher are among the practical touches. Solid oak flooring runs throughout, and the kitchen is well stocked for cooking—there are culinary herbs growing at the front of the cottage if you want to use them. Essentials like heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi are all included.
The property opens onto a patio and a lawned, enclosed garden with furniture; there is private parking for three or four cars. One dog is welcome to stay. Smoking is not permitted. The village sits within reach of the Northumbrian coast—golden beaches at Newton-by-the-Sea and Embleton lie less than five miles away—and is surrounded by countryside walks. Alnwick, three miles off, has supermarkets and a theatre. Rennington, one mile away, has a pub and restaurant within walking distance. Rock itself has an ancient church, always open to visitors, with a marked walking trail through the village.
