About Moor House Farm Camping
Moor House Farm Camping sits on a working farm with sweeping views across the Howgill Fells, just under a mile from Orton village and moments from the M6. Campers praise the spotless, well-maintained facilities—showers and toilets powered by an on-site wind turbine—and the genuinely friendly, helpful owners who make everyone feel welcome. Spacious grass pitches suit tents and motorhomes, with reasonable prices adding to the appeal.
Orton itself is a gem: a proper country pub serving real ales and meals, a chocolate-maker, a well-stocked shop, and a farmers' market on the second Saturday of each month. The site lies on the Coast to Coast Walk, making it ideal for long-distance hikers or anyone wanting peaceful walks and bike rides between the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales. Do note this is an unlit site (bring a torch), and working-farm realities mean occasional machinery noise and the odd country smell—but for many, that's all part of the authentic rural charm.

What visitors say
A beautiful campsite with amazing views. It's on the Sustrans Lands End to John o'Groats route, so perfect for us. The toilets and showers are spotless. The hosts are very helpful, a fellow camper had a flat battery and they came out with jump leads to help get them going.

Campsite is really nice reasonably priced, toilets and showers are clean and hot, the owner is really great and offered to dry my clothes as I got drenched on the 5th day of my coast to coast walk, it's close to Orton and the C2C trail and the view is great from the campsite, it's also well signposted and great communication is given prior to arrival, great place to stay would book again and recommend in a heartbeat 😎👍

Walking the coast to coast and after a very long section from glenridding to this site and the hospitality I received when I arrived I will always remember. Beautiful site, friendly people, looking forward to returning for more than an overnight stop
