Riverside camping in the Vale of Ffestiniog, seven miles from Portmeirion
About Llechrwd Campsite
Llechrwd is a riverside campsite on the A496 near Maentwrog, in the Vale of Ffestiniog and within Snowdonia National Park, about seven miles inland from Portmeirion. Its wildflower meadows and riverside walks give it a quieter, more rural character than the coastal sites around Porthmadog.
The site takes tents, caravans, motorhomes and trailer tents, with electric hookup available on the upper field. Facilities are kept simple, with a modern shower block including disabled and mother-and-baby facilities, individual toilet cubicles with basins, and a washing-up room; dogs are welcome on leads. There is no shop, Wi-Fi or pool on site.
Pricing starts from around thirteen pounds a night for a solo backpacker or cyclist, rising to roughly thirty pounds for two adults with a tent and electric hookup. Its valley setting near the Ffestiniog Railway line suits campers who want to be close to the mountains as well as within a short drive of Portmeirion and the coast.
