About Castell Deudraeth
Castell Deudraeth is the more contemporary of Portmeirion's two hotels, a Victorian castellated folly built by David Williams and given a modern interior when it reopened as a hotel in 2001. It sits just inside the estate near the main gatehouse, a short walk from the piazza and gardens.
Its eleven rooms are styled in a clean, contemporary manner that contrasts with the turreted stone exterior, and the hotel's brasserie and bar open onto a Victorian walled garden used for outdoor dining in warmer months.
Guests have the same access to the wider Portmeirion estate as those staying at Hotel Portmeirion, and the castle's slightly more relaxed, informal atmosphere suits visitors who want the setting without the full period grandeur of the main hotel.
