In the mid-Wales hills around Llandrindod Wells, this purpose-built lodge sits on level ground with seamless access throughout. Every bedroom has an ensuite with walk-in shower; three rooms have kingsize beds, one has two singles. The open-plan living space opens onto a decked area and enclosed garden where a six-person hot tub awaits. Parking for three cars is available on site.
The kitchen is equipped for self-catering, with a dishwasher and separate utility room housing washing and tumble-drying facilities. Wood-burner, underfloor heating and all bed linen and towels are included; wifi keeps you connected. The design prioritises wheelchair accessibility: level access between rooms and to outdoor spaces, lowered switches, spacious wet rooms, and a wheelchair-friendly dining table. A range of mobility aids can be arranged in advance with the owner. One pet stays free of charge.
The lodge suits larger groups, families and those needing accessible accommodation; it is not available for hen or stag parties. The surrounding countryside offers quiet countryside walking, and Llandrindod Wells itself provides shops and restaurants within easy reach.

I thought long and hard before writing this review, as I rarely leave negative feedback. However, I feel it's only fair to give a balanced account of our stay (September 2024). The accommodation at Midwales Lodge was spacious, well-equipped, and generally very comfortable. However, we did notice thick dust in some areas, particularly around the TV and DVD player. The rear decking was also quite slippery, which was a concern given my restricted mobility as an ambulatory wheelchair user. Our main issue was with the owner. We often felt uncomfortable because he seemed to be around whenever we left the lodge or when we spent time in the garden/hot tub, which felt intrusive rather than private. On the morning of departure, both the owner and his partner remained outside the lodge for around 45 minutes before the 10 a.m. checkout time. We fully complied with the departure time, but their presence made us feel as though we were being rushed. Sadly, despite the quality of the accommodation, the lack of privacy and intrusiveness from the owner means, we won't be returning. The owner may wish to consider delegating the customer-facing side of the business to someone with more experience.

Possibly the most lovely of locations, in accommodation that takes some beating. We stayed in Lime Lodge; a spacious, warm and well equipped lodge. To top of the stay, the owners, Richard and Helen are very welcoming, knowledgeable and friendly.

Just had a fabulously relaxing fortnight in Hawthorn Lodge. Huge lodge with absolutely everything you need and if by any chance you need another piece of equipment, Richard and Helen will do their best to get it for you. The lodges are set in very quiet and peaceful countryside - perfect for those needing respite. If you do want to get out and about, there is a wealth of information about local attractions etc. For doggies, try Ynyslas beach - fair drive but you can park on the beach and it's very dog friendly. Some fantastic pubs in the local area. The dogs had a great time too and will miss Richard and Helen's cuddles. All in all we had a brilliant time and have have already booked for next year!

We had an excellent stay in Lime Lodge with 5 friends to celebrate a 90th birthday in May 2025. The lodge is spacious, excellently designed and laid out, extremely clean and very well equipped. Plenty of outdoor space and a beautiful location. Richard and Helen did everything they could to accommodate our needs and make our stay comfortable. Their honey is so delicious we had to buy some to take home. We used the hot tub, visited the Elan Valley, went on the Rheidol railway and there was so much more to do. We had good food, good times with good friends. We can’t wait to return next year! Thank you both for creating such a wonderful place to spend a holiday!
