Y Dderwen at Brynglas Farm

Photo: Carol Bonney

Y Dderwen at Brynglas Farm is a barn conversion on a working farm near Welshpool, with a private hot tub set in the grounds. The property sleeps four across two bedrooms—a double and two singles—with one bathroom. Everything is on the ground floor, including the open-plan living space with a woodburner, a kitchen equipped for self-catering, and a patio with barbecue access to the large garden. One small dog stays free of charge. Parking is available on site, and essentials like electricity, Wi-Fi and bed linen are included.

The rear of the property overlooks the Banwy Valley. A working farm setting means the grounds include an unfenced lake, so this needs noting if you're travelling with young children. The location sits roughly central to several attractions: Powys Castle and the Montgomeryshire Canal are nearby, while the Cambrian coast, Lake Vyrnwy, and the Llanfair steam railway are all within reasonable reach. For activity, there is golf, horse riding and mountain biking available locally. The nearest shop, pub and restaurant are about 3 miles away. No smoking in the property.

The host Eileen met us on our arrival and is very welcoming and friendly. The property is part of three properties formed from an old barn. It is superb condition and has everything you need for a relaxing stay. It is up a short track, off the access road at the top of a hill with beautiful views all around especially over to the west. There is plenty of parking with garden seating areas at the front to watch the sun set, or BBQ at the rear. It is such a lovely peaceful place to stay. We stayed a week and enjoyed exploring the hills and mountains in the area. We would love to return some time in the not too distant future.
